To see static, silent, empty landscapes with an overwhelming absence of life, and to confront what remains after the wild fires. This Too Shall Pass begins in Australia in 2020 and continues in France between 2021 and 2023, with the trail of fires affecting both countries.

This project questions the complexity of human perception, the adjustment mechanism that enables us to tame the brutal, the destructive. How we put in place a process to make the Thanatos bearable. Not forgetting our strength in seeking beauty in absolute darkness.

This Too Shall Pass is divided into three parts.
After the denial of the initial face-to-face encounter with the burnt landscape and the stupefaction it provokes; comes the acknowledgement – collecting the material, the charred trace of the trees on the photographic prints; and finally oblivion, a fragmentation and abstraction of the subject in people’s minds, moving on without having solved the problem of wild fires.

Voir les paysages statiques, silencieux, vides, à l’absence écrasante de vie et se confronter à ce qui subsiste après les feux de forêts. This Too Shall Pass débute en Australie en 2020 et se poursuit en France de 2021 à 2023, avec la trace des feux affectant les deux pays.

Ce projet questionne la complexité de la perception humaine, le mécanisme d’ajustement qui nous permet d’apprivoiser le brutal, le destructif. Comment nous mettons en place un process pour rendre supportable le Thanatos. Sans oublier notre force à aller chercher une beauté dans l’obscurité absolue.

Après le déni du premier face à face avec le paysage brûlé et la sidération qu’il suscite ; vient le constat – collecter la matière, la trace charbonneuse des arbres sur les tirages photographiques ; et enfin l’oubli, une fragmentation et une abstraction du sujet dans les esprits sans que le problème ne soit solutionné.
